Now begins the Christmas gift posts...
One of my brother's gifts this year was a golf blanket I made him. It was a cotton golf pattern on one side and some cuddly fleece on the other.
The blanket was super simple to make and turned out pretty well I think. Here's the how to...
I started by sewing one edge of the fleece and cotton together, with the good sides of the fabric facing each other.
The piece of fleece I had was larger than the piece of cotton, so I then laid them out together, pinning together their edges and cutting the fleece down to size.
I then sewed the remaining edges together, leaving a gap at the end in order to be able to flip the blanket right side out.
One thing that I like to do when leaving a gap, is put two pins in the fabric to mark where the gap will start. This helps me remember to stop when actually sewing (I've often forgotten and just sewed to the edge).
At this point, I clipped the corners of the sewn blanket. This helps give nice square corners when the blanket is flipped right side out.
I flipped the blanket right side out through the gap that I'd left and hand sewed the gap shut.
Et voila! A blanket! Super simple, just a bit of of straight line sewing and minimal hand sewing. I think this would work well for a smaller version baby blanket in a cute patterned fabric.
My cat Tony approves of this blanket. He does not, however; enjoy having his photo taken when he's trying to take a cat nap...
I also made two matching pillow cases...that's what's coming in my next post.
